Happy ‘Murica Day

Let us rejoice on this
Day meant to distract
Us from the problems
Under our skin left
To crawl through every
Crack and crevice until
This unseen tension

Breaks every thing down

And we are left in pools
Of blood left by the slave
Rebellion now slaves of
Every color of skin
And left to enjoy this
Consumerist capitalism

So as we forget what is
Really going on let us
All tune out and let the
Patriotism of the third
Class citizenship quietly
Sink in

So we can enjoy our
‘Murica day barbeques
Swimming pool party
Red white and blue iced
Tea and fresh off the grill
All American liberty just
In time to mask the
Gunshot wounds with the
Sound of a thousand
Sparkling fireworks

Happy 4th of July my
Fellow citizens, enjoy
Yet another distraction
Before this all goes down
The metaphoric drain

And all the numbing
Pain sets in again

I have two different audiences so I just posted the original poem here again.

    1. Camp ended a week ago! I haven’t found the time to write about it yet haha, I’ve been busy with summer classes. I’ll put a link to my stories but I’m happy with what I learned
