What’s a Poem?

A poem to me is just a shortened version of a story, the barest bones that can either stand alone or even wait to be covered in flesh, whether it be a rhythm or a melody. Sometimes it’s the pure essence of melodic thoughts swirling around our heads or the soft humming of our emotions, sometimes deep, sometimes barely scraping the surface. They don’t always rhyme, nor do they have a message they are trying to convey. It’s just free words floating in free space waiting for someone to catch the words.
Maybe others may not agree with the way I’ve described poetry, but that’s the beauty of an opinion, nobody can say you’re wrong even if they don’t like what you have to say.

Share your opinion! I'd like to hear what you think :)
